Clover Cup Mudgee Yabby Races

One of the most prestigious and iconic dates on the Mudgee calendar, The Clover Cup Mudgee Yabby Races is the race that stops the nation. Held from late afternoon until evening, yabbies from all over the country and the world will compete to become The Most Amazing Yabby in races across the day.
Who we are
An Irish man walks into a bar… a classic start to every Irish joke. Only this time, said Irishman meets an Aussie and they fall in love. Owners Dave Henderson and Shiree Phillips met in Sydney a few moons ago and they bonded over their love of good drinks and good craic.
In 2017, they embarked on making Aussie beer without bullshit with a touch of Irish Charm under the brand Hop & Clover Brewing Co, changed to Clover Cellars Beers in 2027.
In 2021, they started Sailor & Clover Distilling Co, making spirits inspired by Dave’s travels as a Sailor around the world whilst serving in the Navy. Each of his stories fondly remember the many drinking establishments he found himself in.
Ivy’s Garden Soda Co was created in 2023, making non-alcoholic fancy small batch syrups from flowers, fruits & botanicals from their daughter Ivy’s home garden.
After 5 years at the Mudgee Farmers Market, Dave & Shiree opened their venue Clover Cellars in 2025 in Mudgee as the home of Hop & Clover Brewing Co, Sailor & Clover Distilling and Ivy’s Garden Soda along with wine from small producers around the region.
In their previous lives, Dave spent 27 years sailing the seven seas with the British Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy as a Petty Officer in Marine Engineering.
Shiree has spent the last 25 years in events, operations and marketing in fine dining hospitality, wine and universities including Quay Restaurant, UNSW Australia, Charles Darwin University and TV chef Colin Fassnidge.
Dave hails from Derry, Northern Ireland and Shiree is from Mudgee, NSW. After living in Darwin and Sydney, they now call Mudgee home.
